A PHOENIX; RISING THROUGH THE ASHES. π¦π₯
A Fateful July!
Ten years ago, when I was just sixteen, my life took an unexpected turn. It was a sweltering July day at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. I found myself in an exam room, writhing in excruciating pain. My body had become a live subject for final-year medical students, their faces a mix of curiosity and determination as they prodded and examined me for their "practicals." Pain medications and anesthesia had long ceased to have any effect on me. The doctors, with grim faces, had whispered their verdict — I was going to die anyway.
Silent Burdens!π
Despite the dire prognosis, I chose to keep every single detail to myself. My parents remained blissfully unaware of my worsening condition. Even though I was a minor, the thought of burdening them with my ill health was unbearable. I was nearing my final year of high school, and my father was certain that I was destined to finish school, head to med school, and become the doctor he had always dreamed I would be.
Breaking Points!
My health continued to deteriorate rapidly, and soon, I was in desperate need of a lifesaving surgical procedure. The time came when I could no longer hide the truth from my mother. Her initial disappointment was palpable, but she understood why I had kept her in the dark. My father, on the other hand, remained oblivious to my plight. Knowing him, I feared the news would break him; he would cry and probably sulk to death.
A Decade of Resilience!
A decade has passed since those dark days. I am here now, fulfilling my dreams and navigating the peaks and lows of life. It’s far from perfect, but it’s life, with all its messiness and unpredictability. Every scar and every struggle have shaped who I am today. May God make it easy for all of us. ππ
